Spill the Tea is a conceptual menu design for a tea room café that blends the elegance of traditional afternoon tea with the vibrant energy of drag performance culture. The visual identity combines vintage tea room aesthetics with playful, theatrical elements, reflecting the café’s unique entertainment twist. Illustrated elements—including a reclining figure emerging from a teacup and decorative tea motifs—create a whimsical and expressive brand personality. The menu layout uses ornamental borders, stylized typography, and a refined color palette of plum, teal, and cream to evoke classic tea service while introducing a bold contemporary flair. Designed in Adobe Illustrator, the project includes a full menu layout and coordinating promotional materials that highlight both the culinary offerings and the café’s scheduled drag performances.

Challenge:  The challenge was to merge two contrasting aesthetics—refined tea culture and the expressive, camp sensibility of drag—without losing the integrity of either. The design needed to remain structured and readable as a menu while still embracing personality, humor, and visual flair.

Significance:  The merchandise extends the brand beyond the menu into wearable and collectible formats, reinforcing the tea room’s identity as both a dining and performance space. Through items like T-shirts and stickers, the design invites audiences to engage with the brand outside of the physical environment, fostering a sense of community and shared experience.
