Target Audience: Members of EDM and rave communities, particularly younger audiences and festival-goers, as well as venues and organizers seeking to promote safety and inclusivity
Goal: To create an engaging and visually compelling safety poster that clearly communicates the values of PLUR while resonating with the energy and culture of rave environments.
This PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect) poster was designed as a safety-focused piece for EDM and rave communities, promoting the core values that shape and sustain the culture. The design uses bold typography, vibrant color bands, and psychedelic visual elements to reflect the energy and atmosphere of rave environments while clearly communicating each principle. Each section defines a value—peace, love, unity, and respect—emphasizing themes of inclusivity, kindness, and personal boundaries. The playful yet intentional illustration style helps make the message approachable while still reinforcing its importance. The poster was created in Adobe Illustrator, with companion social media animations developed in Adobe After Effects. Together, the system aims to educate and remind viewers of the importance of maintaining a safe, welcoming, and respectful community space.
Challenge: One of the main challenges was balancing a fun, vibrant aesthetic with the seriousness of the message to ensure it remained both engaging and meaningful. It
was also important to communicate multiple concepts clearly within a single composition without overwhelming the viewer. Additionally, the design needed to feel authentic to rave culture while maintaining readability and clarity across both print and
digital formats.
Socials + Animation Companion Piece
Significance: The animated Instagram story companions extend the poster into a digital, interactive format tailored for social media engagement. By breaking down the PLUR values into motion-based visuals, the animations enhance accessibility and draw attention in fast-paced online spaces. They function as both promotional and educational tools, maintaining visual consistency while increasing reach and
audience interaction.
